Description

This remarkable wine is the perfect example of the progress that this appellation has made over the last few years. Up until now, it's tended to offer wines which are a bit too strong and rustic, but thanks to premature harvests and better-mastered vinification techniques, this year we've got remarkable wines which marry finesse, balance and power. Its outstanding aromatic palate reminds us of some of the biggest cuvées from Languedoc, with its Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah grape blend.

Eye - A beautifully intense ruby coloured wine turning a blue-black colour with an aubergine hint towards the edge of the glass. The wine has barely begun its evolution. Bright and opaque in its density, it offers a powerful colour and an exceptional concentration in glass.
Nose - On the nose, the wine already expresses an incredible complexity. Full of fruity finesse, we found aromas of jammy black and red fruits, blackcurrants, blackberries, cherries, blueberries, wild strawberries and raspberries. These fruits are accompanied by notes of marshmallow and bergamot which are then taken over by delicious aromas of incense, pepper, vanilla and dark chocolate. On aeration, more meaty notes are added to this powerful blend.
Palate - Generous on the palate, the wine offers a rich and velvety texture. This is brought on by delicious flavours of jammy fruits. The wine then takes on a powerful dimension on a more closed, virile structure with notes of licorice. The tannins melt into the richness of the matter. The pepper, vanilla and chocolate notes of its ageing appear on the finish alongside fruity aromas. Pure velvet.

Bodegas Olivares, a family business which was founded in 1930 by Pascual Olivares Fernandez, is situated at the heart of the Jumilla appellation to the north of Murcia. The vines benefit from a Mediterranean micro climate and an exceptional ground quality. The founder of the estate began by making wines to sell exclusively within the region itself. His sons, Vicente and Celestino brought the wines up to a national level and then began exporting at the start of the 1960's. The business is currently run by the third generation, who have played a key role in its development. They introduced production to the northern part of the appellation, the area where the grounds and climate best allow for the development of high-quality wines. Bodegas Olivares now benefits from the most modern production methods to guarantee optimal quality from each bottle. Their objective is to obtain wines which reflect the specific traits of the Jumilla terroir and its principal grape variety, the Monastrell.
