Description

Truly a wine that reveals all the natural beauty of the terroir. The simple and slight ageing makes it very enjoyable as it seduces the senses. A subtle wine, simple and simply delicious!

Eye - This is a wine that reveals all the natural beauty of the grapes and terroir, a seductive rather than powerful bottle. This is a wine of a deep ruby with shades of midnight blue and a beautiful look of youth. A wine that is wonderfully fresh looking, bright and almost opaque in density. This has a medium concentration to the eye.
Nose - On the nose this wine has a fruity aromatic blend with flowers and a very slight note of age. There are cherries, blackcurrants, blackberries and wild strawberries, followed by violets, roses, then smoke, pepper and vanilla. Altogether the aromas are extremely seductive. An elegant, unimposing wine.
Palate - In the mouth it is the fruity flavours that dominate, giving a clear and pure feel. A very refreshing wine, smooth and with an easy to drink acidity as well as a touch of the flavour of fresh, crisp grape skins. As on the nose, the ageing remains very slight with a simple touch of pepper and vanilla? A becoming wine that ought to be appreciated now, whilst it is young.

A wine to be served with roasted red meats in gravy, beef wellington, duck , lamb cutlets, mushroom fricassee, risotto, rice dishes, brie or camembert.

The vineyards of Château Le Thil Comte Clary are remarkably well-located in the centre of three of the Pessac-Leognan appellation's Crus Classés: Château Bouscaut, Château Carbonnieux and Château Smith-Haut-Laffite. The fantastic reputation of these neighbouring chateaux clearly indicates the potential of Château Le Thil Comte Clary. In 1989, Château Le Thil had no vines but it did, however, possess some twenty hectares of land situated within the Pessac-Léognan appellation. It was then that the de Laitre family decided to give the estate what it was notably missing: a vineyard. Because Jean de Laitre ? who was at that time working as a medical intern in Paris ? considered this to be an exceptional opportunity, he abandoned his stethoscope in order to commit himself entirely to an incredible challenge: to create from scratch a fantastic new vineyard within a most prestigious appellation. Château Le Thil's red wines are mainly made up of Merlot (75 %), on account of the terroir's large proportion of clay. Cabernet-Sauvignon (25 %) is planted on the gravel parcels. Its white wines are made up of the two principal grape varieties of the Bordeaux region: Semillon (50 %) and Sauvignon (50 %). All the work carried out on the vineyard has one aim: to achieve perfectly healthy grapes of an ideal ripeness. In order to improve quality, certain procedures have been introduced to the vineyard: green harvests are carried out when necessary, and the stringent grape selection allows each vine-plant to have a moderate yet harmoniously balanced production of grapes. These are just a couple of the vineyard's long and meticulous operations which allow it to reach its incredible level.
