Eye - This wine is a beautiful ruby red colour, which goes from a deep purple in the centre of the glass towards a violet and then crimson at the edge of the glass. The intensity of the colour is also shown in the concentration of the matter, which is confirmed when you swirl it. The wine shines, is entirely opaque and suggest power and depth.
Nose - On the nose, the wine immediately expresses power and finesse at the same time. The aromatic structure gives out aromas of puréed black fruit, blackcurrant, blackberries, blueberries, as well as hints of plums. Next come notes acquired whilst ageing, bringing a seductive aspect to the ensemble, with chocolate, coffee, pepper and vanilla. It has a complex nose, one which is suave, velvety and virile all at once.
Palate - On the palate, we encounter the same fruity sensation found on the nose, with a thick and creamy texture. The voluptuousness of the wine lessens to make way for the fine and delicate structure. The acidity is peppery and tastes of liquorice and the tannins are full and rich, holding the fruity sensation for a good length of time. The finish is on a bitter note of liquorice, cachou, or zan. It’s an opulent wine, clearly; but one with an almost perfect balance. It’s definitely a top Mourvèdre.
